Terms of Service

Effective: April 20, 2026

Welcome to OKKAI. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and OKKAI ("we", "us", "our") that governs your use of the OKKAI mobile application and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms; if you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to consent to processing of personal data, whichever is higher. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us at support@okkai.app if you believe your account has been compromised. We may refuse or revoke access for accounts created with false information or used in violation of these Terms.

3. What OKKAI Is — and What It Is Not

OKKAI helps you track food, nutrition, and weight. Calorie and macronutrient values are estimates produced in part by automated models and may be inaccurate. The Service is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietary, or clinical advice. Do not rely on OKKAI to diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, take medication that interacts with food, or are otherwise unsure whether a dietary change is appropriate for you, consult a qualified health professional first.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

OKKAI Premium is offered as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store. The following terms apply to every purchase:

  • Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • You can manage and cancel your subscriptions in your App Store account settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions) at any time after purchase.
  • If a free trial is offered and you purchase a subscription before the trial ends, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited.
  • Prices and product availability may vary by storefront and may change over time; Apple will always show you the exact price it will charge on the purchase sheet before you confirm.

Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's Media Services Terms. We cannot issue refunds directly — request refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.

5. Free Plan and Premium

Some features are free; others require an active Premium subscription. The list of Premium-only features may change over time. Cancelling Premium immediately stops auto-renewal and you are downgraded to the free plan at the end of the current paid period; you keep all your data.

6. Your Content

Food photos, notes, recipes, and anything else you submit ("Your Content") remain yours. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, display back to you, and — where you explicitly make a post public — share Your Content for the purpose of operating the Service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to submit Your Content and that it does not infringe on anyone's rights or violate any law.

7. Community Features

If you choose to post publicly (for example, to the community feed), other users will see what you post. Do not post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that promotes self-harm. We may remove posts and suspend accounts that violate these rules. You can delete your own posts at any time.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service, except to the extent applicable law expressly prohibits that restriction;
  • interfere with the Service, probe its security, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours;
  • use the Service to process content you do not have the right to submit, or to train third-party AI systems in violation of our or our providers' terms;
  • scrape, bulk-download, or resell data from the Service;
  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all software, design, text, graphics, and the OKKAI name and logo, is owned by OKKAI or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right in our trademarks or brand.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party services such as Apple, Google, cloud providers, and AI vendors. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all such warranties.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OKKAI and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) 50 USD. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that cannot be limited under applicable law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold OKKAI harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, Your Content, or your misuse of the Service.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in the app at Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Sweden, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country gives you a right to proceed elsewhere.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect, and the effective date above will be updated. Your continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
