Sparkling Citrus Energy Drink
Headnote
This is a precise, highly carbonated energy drink with a clean citrus profile and a dry, brisk finish. The balance is built on acidity, sweetness, and bitterness held in exact proportion, so the drink reads as sharp rather than cloying. Serve it well chilled and undisturbed to preserve its lift and clarity.

Ingredients
Base
Carbonated water, 455 g
Citric acid, 2 g
Natural flavors, 5 g
Taurine, 2 g
Caffeine, 0.15 g
Sucralose, 0.04 g
Acesulfame potassium, 0.02 g
Sodium citrate, 1 g
Preservatives, 0.2 g
B-vitamins, 0.59 g
Method
1. Chill the carbonated water to 2 to 4°C. A cold base protects carbonation and produces a finer, more persistent bubble.
2. In a mixing vessel, combine the citric acid, taurine, caffeine, sucralose, acesulfame potassium, sodium citrate, preservatives, and b-vitamins. Add a small portion of the carbonated water and whisk just until fully dissolved, 1 to 2 minutes. The liquid should become clear and evenly seasoned, with no visible crystals.
3. Add the remaining carbonated water in a steady stream, stirring gently for 15 to 20 seconds only. Avoid agitation; the drink must remain lively, not foamy.
4. Add the natural flavors and fold briefly until the aroma is integrated, about 10 seconds. The finished liquid should smell bright and citrus-led, with a clean, lifted edge.
5. Transfer immediately into a 473 g can or sealed bottle. Close at once to preserve carbonation. The drink should pour with a tight bead and a crisp, dry snap on the palate.
Plating and serving
Serve ice-cold in a narrow glass or directly from the can. The ideal pour is pale, clear, and highly effervescent, with a sharp aromatic rise and a clean finish.
Professional notes
Keep all components cold before mixing; warmth flattens the carbonation and dulls the profile.
Dissolve the dry ingredients completely before the final addition of gas-bearing liquid.
Handle the drink with minimal movement after carbonation is introduced. The structure depends on restraint.
