About
A sugar-free energy drink with negligible calories, no fat or protein, very low carbohydrates, and added caffeine and B vitamins.
Sugar-Free Citrus Energy Fizz
A sharply composed, sugar-free sparkling drink built on clean acidity, restrained sweetness, and a precise caffeine lift. Its character should be brisk rather than aggressive, with a dry finish and a polished, commercial clarity. Serve it thoroughly chilled so the carbonation, aroma, and bitterness remain taut.
Recipe essentials
Dish category: Carbonated functional beverage
Cuisine or origin: Contemporary
Course type: Drink
Yield: 1 can
Serving size: 330 g
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 0 minutes
Total time: 5 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Equipment
500 g mixing vessel
Fine whisk
Digital scale accurate to 0.1 g
330 g can or bottle, thoroughly chilled
Ingredients
Carbonated water, chilled: 317.0 g
Citric acid: 2.0 g
Taurine: 1.0 g
Caffeine: 0.2 g
Natural flavors: 0.5 g
Sweeteners: 0.1 g
Preservatives: 0.1 g
B vitamins: 9.1 g
Method
1. Place the mixing vessel on the scale and add the carbonated water. Keep the vessel cold; the liquid should be near 4°C to preserve gas and sharpness.
2. Sprinkle in the citric acid, taurine, caffeine, natural flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, and b vitamins in that order. Whisk gently for 20 to 30 seconds, just until fully dissolved and evenly distributed. The liquid should remain clear and lively, with no visible granules.
3. Immediately transfer the finished drink into the chilled 330 g can or bottle. Seal at once if using a suitable vessel, or serve immediately if pouring.
4. Chill for a further 10 minutes if needed. The drink should present with a fine bead of carbonation, a clean citrus edge, and a dry, focused finish.
Plating and serving
Serve in a chilled glass or directly from the can, with no garnish. The drink should read as bright, austere, and precise, with carbonation leading and sweetness held in reserve.
Professional notes
Keep agitation minimal; excessive whisking will flatten the drink.
The balance depends on cold temperature and immediate service.
Dissolution must be complete before serving, or the finish will feel coarse.
